You can show your appreciation for your coach by sending them a thank you letter. There is no substitute for a good coach. It is all the more important to say thank you to your coaches this season.
Sports teams are comprised of many people and coaches spend a great deal of time developing each athlete and leading the team to success.
Here are some tips you can use to show that you appreciate your coach.
Write a Thank You Note to Your Coach
You might be surprised at how easy it is to write a thank-you note. Here are some tips you should keep in mind.
- Make it as short as possible.
- It is best to write by hand.
- Consider mailing the note to the coach’s home or office.
I have attached two samples of thank you notes below. Two letters were sent directly from children to coaches, one from the parent of a child on the team, the other direction from a child to the coach.
From parent of child on the team Dear Coach (name of coach), My daughter has experienced such an amazing change this year because of you. Despite her hesitations, she has truly enjoyed playing soccer. In addition to helping her grow as a player, you have also helped her increase her level of confidence. It is clear that you care about each of your players, and I hope that you return next year. Sincerely, (your name)
From child on the team Dear Coach, Your encouragement to become a better football player and your commitment to keeping my schoolwork first are greatly appreciated. The way you treated me was tough, but I appreciate it. I was able to play my best this year as a result of it. My coach for this year will always be you, and I look forward to being your player next season. Thank you, (child's name)

A Thank You Coach Poem
With a thank you poem, you can also express your gratitude to your coach. The following poem was submitted by one of our readers. Thanks Coach For a coach who saw more in me, More than I thought I could ever be, Who taught me to discipline This mind and the body I'm in, Who raised expectations and dreams, Beyond just an athlete's schemes, Beyond normal endurance, Beyond myself, and ever since, I'm a greater man for it, Because you taught me not to quit.

The gesture of thanking your coach is very nice. By telling the coach how his or her direction and guidance have impacted your life or the life of your child, you will be touching the coach’s heart.
